Tire Size to Rim Size Fittment Question?

My question is the following:

Will a 265/75x16 tire fit on a 16x8 or a 16x9 rim?

And also if I plan on running a 35x12.5 tire what size width rim should I put in it? 8" or 9"?

I am putting these on my 2003 Silverado Z71 4x4 ext cab.

Need help asap so I can order rims.

Thanks

I'd put 265s on the 8" rims, but not the 9. Just my thinking.

Re: Tire Size to Rim Size Fittment Question?

yeah me too. But would you put 35's on the same 8" wide rim?

I am think I could buy new rims at say 16x8 and put my 265x75x16 tires I have now on these new rims and then once the lift kit is one but some 35's and put them on the same rims

What do you think? Sound like a viable option.

yeah, I'd put 35s on the 8" rim. But that would be a 35x12.5 or a 315/70(?)

Who makes a 16x9 rim?

Just curious, I've only seen 16x8 and 16x10.

Same here. I've got 16x8s on my truck, the only 9 I've seen is in 17x9.

Re: Tire Size to Rim Size Fittment Question?

No one one I know of. I was trying to decide between 16x8 or 17x9.

With the 16x8 I can buy the rims and put my currect 265-75-16 tires on them and then when I get the lift kit still fit the 35's on them.

Where as if everyone said I should go with a 9" wide rim them I would scrap this idea and go 17x9....

Sounds like 16x8's will do the job I want.

Re: Tire Size to Rim Size Fittment Question?

i'm not sure, depending on what the truck says, running a rim 4" thinner than the tire, not sure how much that would change your contact patch and wear the center out faster.
