non working 4wd on a k1500 blazer

i have a 92 k1500 blazer and it will not engage into 4wd. the drive shaft turns but the wheels don't turn. is there something electrical problem that causes it not to lock in? i have checked the fuse and all of the wires and plugs under teh truck. i want to look at all possible external problems before i pull the whole front end. i went to the local dealer and parts house and both just looked confused.

Using a test light, see if you're getting power to your front diff. actuator. Being that old, it very well could have gone bad. If it is getting power, use a voltmeter to see whats getting put to it. It may also be a bare wire grounding out, but that is usually associated with blowm 4wd fuses.

yeah drop it in 4wd drive, use test light to see if the actuater is getting power. if its getn any kind of power at all then its the actuater thats gone bad.

easy fix is to unscrew the actuater and screw in new one and plug it in.

if its sletrical shorted out wires and stuff. it would be easier to run a posi lock and get rid off all the eletrical junk in the front end.

i didnt go this route, i ended up running my front end with toggle switch. first time spliced my switch into the original wire, this only lasted so long. the second fix was all new wireing from my switch. this lasted the longest.

the toggle swtich is pretty cool because you can run in 2low, you can also run 2low qith the posi lock.

good luck
