94 blazer wont start, i\'ve never seen this before

Ok its a 94 fullsize 5.7L automatic. Its been running great until today after leaving a store i went to start it up and nothing happened. When i turn the key to the on position the dash lights (ses, abs, battery) are real dim and sometimes they are flashing at random. The heat control display and radio display are real dim and flickering and flashing. I turned the key back and forth a few times and it went back to normal. So i tried to start it and it went back to flickering and flashing. Also the head lights and marking lights do not turn on at all, with key on or off. And when the key is on and the dash is normal, turning on the radio or the blower fan to high or turning the head lights on all make the dash go back to flickering again and the voltage gauge drops all the way down. I checked the battery connections and all fuses are fine. I think it might be the ignition switch but i have never had one go bad. Am i on the right track?

Not sure if the wiring is the same on the 94 but on my 88, the power distribution block on the engine side of the firewall on the passenger side had corroded terminals. Try jumping the terminals from one to the next with a continous heavy gage wire to see if the problem goes away.

Also, check the wires that go into your starter. The main blue/purple wire that runs every thing but the widows and such had melted up against the manifold and was grounding out. That's what caused mine not to start.

obrut

were you pulling trailer??

bad trailer wireing can burn up your trucks wireing, i pulled a trailer with no ground ounce and melted some wires together on my firewall.

turn signals tail lights, headlights, everything went haywire. ended up getn a section of wireing harness off another chev to fix it.

i hope this isnt what happend to yours
