need more hp

I am thinking about adding more horsepower(1998 chevy 5.7)any suggestions are welcome. For example, What brand of headers are proven tough, which heads make good power for my application (off roading), what about a cam (what duration sounds mean but still performs), how about an intake (which one and is it worth the time and bucks)..... Like I said previously, any suggestions appreciated.

Re: need more hp

Have you thought about puting a stroker kit on that engine of yours? Vortec 383s do pretty damn well. How much of an increase in horse power are you looking for?

Re: need more hp

It's my daily driver so pulling the motor is kind of out right now. I do plan on doing the 383, but I need a bigger garage (hopefully this summer) and a beater to get around town. I want to get 400-425 hp. Much more than that I think the strength of my somewhat stock drivetrain will be in question. If I was ready to put the 383 kit in, what company would you recommend?
