Re: motor swap
well this all depends on what you want out of what you have. i just finisghed a swap in a 94 from a 4.3litre to a "350." its actually now a 366, but it was a 5.7 litre block. if you want to pass emission tests make sure your state doesnt have rules regarding emission for v-6 being different than v-8. you will not be able to get a 350 to pass emission for a v-6. secondlly, to get everything to pass emissions you'll need to build or buy an engine set up for CSFI injection like all of the 96-98+ 1500 trucks have.
For my set up, i built an engine with everything it needed to run. i put new motor mounts in when i set the engine in and i had to use a differnt tranny or buy a sytand alone computer. if you build a long block...all you'll ned to do is build the engine iteself. the block and lower end, the heads, and the intake. you'll need to figure out a way to get all 8 injectors working. perhaps there are two extra pigtails under the hood, but i dont know. you'll also need to reprogram your computer.
you'd be better served to see if there is a way around the emissions testing and building an old-school 350 and setting it in.
