water on floorboard

i was doing some wiring in the truck i just bought and i noticed that the pad under the carpet (front floorboards) is soaked with water. Were just talkin about the area in front of the seats on both sides. It only goes over about to where the transmission hump is. Is this something that I should worry about? I have the carpet peeled up right now and i am letting the truck sit outside to try and dry the pad.
I was thinking maybe they shampood the carpets at the dealership when they detailed it and got them too wet but the carpet has a rubber backing on it so i dont see how that much water could soak through. is there any way rain water could get down there and soak the pad like that?

Re: water on floorboard

I have the same thing going on in mine. I wired in some bucket seats and found the pad wet. Luckily I went over to a Goodwill to drop off some donations and found a replacement pad that I can cut to fit. I didn't smell antifreeze (heater core leaking) so I'm not gonna worry about it (Arizona). Once I replace the pad and it dries, then I will keep an eye on it and see if I can narrow it down to some possibilities.

In your case, make sure it's not antifreeze, let it dry then wash the truck and keep an eye on the pad to see if it gets wet.

Good luck

Re: water on floorboard

I have vinyl flooring and so I notice the water on a semi regular basis unfortunately. It did just rain so I'm assuming it has to do with the rain, but I just can't figure where the water came from.
If anyone knows where this is coming from it sure would be nice.
Could it be the AC unit?
