Converted 10 bolt rear to discs---cheap

Last week I converted the wife's suburban rear 10 bolt axle (1996) to disc brakes. I used a method I haven't seen yet, but it is working great. I still have to get the parking brake cables dialed in, but here is the basic idea:

1st: Take off drumss

2nd: Take off backing plates. I cut them off since I didn't want to drain diff and pull shafts out.

3rd: Grind down axle flange. I put the vehicle in gear and let the axle turn making it a Chevy 350 powered lathe. Here is the pic:

4th:

Weld the caliper bracket to the axle (up against the backing plate flange):
