To High or does it sound like a resonable price?

A local shop is asking 4100.00 to install a 6" lift
with new MT wheels and MT rims. Just wondering if anyone would know if this is a resonable price. Any replies would be very helpful.

Thanks johnnymac.

Re: To High or does it sound like a resonable pric

6" lifts are what: $1,500-$2,000?

Last time I had to buy tires and rims all around it cost me about $1,200 for four 15" rims, and 31" MT's. YMMV.

So we're at $3,200 just for parts.

Around $900 for installation and taxes left over.

I'm sort of mixed on this one...
I would see if you can get the rims and tires some place cheaper, and then just bring them with you if you choose to get the lift installed at this shop.

Re: To High or does it sound like a resonable pric

Thanks for the reply, I was going with 35" tires which will cost a little more. This is the first truck I have ever been able to modify and I want to get the best ride and look out of. Being new to modifing this truck any help would be greatly appreciated. I have read a lot of the post here and gathered mucho info. Any hidden things I might need to know before I drop my truck off at the shop and have the lift installed?
The lift they want to install is a BDS 6" suspension with 35" tires and wheels. If anyone has done this to this year model truck please reply and let me know how it is and if they are satisfied.

I'm not sure how much the BDS kits cost but it all seems a little high. Try to get the tires and wheels else where (you can for cheap) and then get the price for just the lift install. Maybe another truck shop will install the other shops lift for cheaper.

BDS lifts cost around $1500.. Its very similar to RCD. They do come with bilstein shocks though!

well ummmm, that's pretty dang steep to me!

and why in God's green earth do you need someone to install your wheels and tires for you?!????

buy them somewhere else, either local or a good online order place and try to find em cheaper....ship them to your door. meanwhile your truck is at the shop getting a lift installed....4100 is way much in my book. but if you have 4grand to blow out the window, knock yourself out.

Which wheel would be most recommended 15x8 or 16x8? Everone is telling me that 15x10 would grind the fenders.

Re: To High or does it sound like a resonable pric

well thats totally up to you. i have 15x8s, but now i want 16x8s. 16" tires are more expensive than the 15" equivalent. so, make sure you're prepared for the price difference when you purchase tires.

the difference in looks between 15x8s and 16x8s is subtle, but its there.

as for which will rub, it depends on the wheel offset and tire size.

I could get a whole lifted truck(38" tires) for you at that price and make a nice profit -Greg
