oil leaking, intake manifold??

well i seem to have an oil leak on my truck. from looking at it, its coming form the back upper side of the engine. its not coming form the valve covers. looks like its coming form the back side of the intake manifold. I had the head off this time last year so i replaced the intake manifold gasket but i guess i didn't do a good enough job . Anyone have any other ideas where it might be coming from. Im really not up to taking the manifold off and doing the gasket job, anyone happen to know about how much it would run to have done? thanks

Re: oil leaking, intake manifold??

i dunno, its quite a bit and seems to start right at the instake manifold seam. i think im gonna take it to the car wash and hose it off and see what happens... i hate having to redo a job i've already done... i haven't decided if im gonna do it or pay someone... any tips on getting a good seal if i do it myself again. i made sure and cleaned all the old gasket off and cleaned the surface real well last time.

Re: oil leaking, intake manifold??

to ge a good seal just make sure there arent any places for the oil to leak out of. its that simple

could have just been a bad gasget, could have not been torqued to specs...etc. lots of "could be's"

Re: oil leaking, intake manifold??

This may not at all apply to an intake gasket, but I find that GM gaskets are a lot higher quality than regular cork gaskets as far as the tranny pan goes, I would try a GM gasket for that intake if I were you. $ is worth it for peace of mind.
