What is this

Hey all:

I've been trying to figure out what this solenoid-looking thing is in my engine compartment. It's on the passenger side of the intake manifold if you can't decipher the pic. The real reason I'm asking is where the arrow points to, there appears to be some type of hose missing. I can't figure out where it comes from. I've looked all over the engine for the other end or a broken vacuum hose but can't find anything. There is no pressure or vacuum on this end while the engine is at idle. Haven't tried any other scenarios.

Please help

Thanks

Re: What is this

Its your evaporative canister purge vacuum diaphragm. Its number 15 in the following picture.

That hose coming off of it - from what my system shows - is just a vent hose... kinda like a differential vent line. So, it really doesnt hook to anything. If I am incorrect in this, somebody point it out to me please.

Re: What is this

I second that feeling u4ia4. Thanks for the info. I was thinking that might be what the hose was for but wanted to make sure.

Re: What is this

No problem guys.. I feel the same way about a lot of posts on here. I have earned a bit of information myself while cruising around the forum. I have a valuable resource here at home, and I feel the best thing to do is share it with people that can use it. I look at these pictures all day long at work... I feel like I could diagnose any GM vehicle at this point, just having helped out so many GM dealers find parts. I pick up a lot of info from the shops that buy from me also, and I always plan to pass that along to you guys. Thanks for the comments and support. I do appreciate it!
