Re: 5 speed for a 700R4 project
I don't consider the 700 crappy first off. Yes, it has some weaknesses, but I believe properly built it will suit me. I don't do hardcore stuff. I stick mainly to mud, and some trails when I am out in the goo. I run 33x13.50 Super Swamper LTBs and 3.73 gears by the way. I can't afford a NV4500. I checked out prices, and around here in Mississippi, they are going for about 2500. That price is with it needing to be rebuilt. My uncle is a transmission builder, so no cost in building the tranny, just parts. I am VERY set on getting rid of a 5 speed, if I can't have the NV4500. Well, any other suggestions about crossmembers , driveshafts ,etc? Oh by the way, can you tell me when I look at the tranny on if I can tell if I can change the shafts on it to make it work with my 4wd? Will I need to change anything with my transfer case?
