Finally got Mean Green Alt installed

Well, tonight I finally got the mean green installed. Everything went fine until the belt. For some reason, the belt was way to tight and adjusting it wasn't doing any good. Thankfully, my buddy has a belt a little bit longer. It works great and am very happy with it. With the sound system blasting, hella lights on, and the heat on full, the battery level is at 14.5... If i had the stock one, it would be draining at a little bit around 13. As for the positive wire from the alt to the battery, I called Mean Green today to find out if its truly necessary to upgrade. He said no. He has a mean green alt in his 3/4 ton 2000 burban with 100,000+ miles on it. He has winch, plow, and everything else you can imagine on it. He has the stock wiring and everything has worked out. I figured I have nothing compared to him. All in all, I am very happy.

Thanks for the report. One question, however, did you mention the belt length to the guy also?

Is this something that we'll have to get if we get a Mean Green, or is it just your particular application?

I believe its just for a particular application. Mac, from this bbs also has a 2dr tahoe. I think his is either a 1996 or 1997. He didn't need a different belt length. I will call mean green and let them know about this.

I have a 95 2dr. In my instructions it said that a smaller belt may be required but I put the same one it had and it fit perfect. The pully on your mean green may be a little bigger that the stock pully.

I measured and they turned both out to be very close in size. Not sure what is going on, but a bigger belt was definitely needed.

Re: Finally got Mean Green Alt installed

same size pulley doesnt mean same pully location. I'm guessing the pulley is just a bit out of teh original position, hence the need for bigger belt

Yea the mean green is alot bigger so im guessing the pully could be in a different position than the stock.
