best offest rim?

I have a 1990 3/4 ton 4x4 running 18.5 by 14 inch tires. I have no lift due to the fact that my truck in a bummer conversion kit. I am rubbing my tires on my frame and am wondering if any of you know what the best option is. I have been told to steer away from spacers and some advise a reverse cut rim and others advise a 12 inch wide rim since the back spacing is around 4.7 or something. That do you guys recomend?
Thanks,

With 10" rims you run the risk of wearing out ball joints faster, so i would go with a 8" wide rim. Factory backspacing is 5.5" or so and average aftermaket rims are about 4.5" bs.

I have mickey t classic II 16x8 with 4.5" bs

Re: best offest rim?

Sorry I was a little slow. My tires are 38.5 by 14 inches super swamper. I will probably have to deal with ball joints wearing out and am not sure that factory rims will work. can I run an 8 inch wide rim with such a big tire?
Thanks,

Oh I didnt realize you have 14" wide tires. You would for sure have to have 10" wheel maybe even 12". I think you should get a skinnier tire. 38's on even a 3/4 ton can kill the ifs.

Re: best offest rim?

Its a truck, IFS.
A tire guy told me today that I couldn't get into a tire with less than 4.6 or so backspacing and that moving to a wider rim with the same backspacing really will not help any? Am I forced to limit my steering or use spacers?
Thanks
