Tranny problems

My tranny is slipping pretty good in reverse and just a little in the forward gears. It was rebuilt about 25 to 30 thousand miles ago. I've been told by a few people that my bands just need to be adjusted. I hope that is all that needs to be done, but it has been pushing 38s for awhile now. I'm pretty sure that it is a 4L80E, its a 91 3/4 ton. Thanks.

Re: Tranny problems

One way to tell I belive is... Do you got 6 or 8 lugs? If you got 6 lugs you got a light duty 3/4 which would have a 4L60E... if it has 8 then u got a 4L80e.

Re: Tranny problems

HD 3/4 ton with a big block = 4L80E. He has a full floater 14 bolt so it is a HD.

Re: Tranny problems

That is correct. I called the guy who owned it before me and he said it is the 4l80e. Evan, Orie told me that he is sure that my bands need adjusted. I think tomorrow I will call around to a few tranny shops and see what they tell me

Re: Tranny problems

If you need any extra info on your truck (trans, engine, axle ratios), post your VIN and I can get you a copy of all of your production codes for your truck and what they mean.
