Anti lock brakes

My 2000 GMC truck's anti lock brakes are acting up. They are acting like there is a skid when no skid condition is there? The dealer said they are working because the abs light is not on. Can anyone tell me where i can find a print for the ABS on this? Or is there a way to check each sensor at the wheel? It is so bad some days that the truck seems like it will never stop.

Re: Anti lock brakes

On your truck there should be a wheel speed sensor at each wheel and a vehicle speed sensor on the transmission tailshaft. Get up and clean around all the sensors, good amounts of dirt and mud can affect the way the system works. Take off the connectors and put some dielectric gel inside. It keeps water from gettin in there and shorting the contacts out. And last, check the tire pressure. If there's more than a 10% difference in the rolling radius of the front and rear tire, the ABS will activate. Hope this helps.
