NO!!!! its leaking!

Well today I went to change my oil, crawled underneath it, looking at stuff... oh no whats this? Oil running from around the filter area... Dripping down to the bottom of the engine/tranny area... this seems familuer... Just like our Tahoe did 6-8 monthes ago, me and my dad figure its where the filter screws on to that deal? You know... just a 5 dollar gasket and not hard to change... just a pain in the ass... anyone else getting this trouble? Perhaps its a default and its covered in a recall??? I found the Vortec SFI system has flaws in it and is now under a 10 year 200,000 mile warrenty and what they do is replace it with a the new MPFI..(multiport fuel enjection)

Re: NO!!!! its leaking!

Is it the filter gasket that is on top of the hoses that go to the cooler and filter? If so mine leaks there too. It looks like there is only 2 bolts holding the thing on. DO you just have to unbolt it, pull it straight down and swap gaskets? Do do you know what gasket to buy. I have been told that there is no gasket and that it screws on. Didn't leak too bad so I forgot about it.

Re: NO!!!! its leaking!

Yup thats it. Just unbolt.. Make sure you drain oil first though lol... But I think you got to remove the strut bar to get to it. The only place that sells this gasket is the Chevy Dealer. For our 95 Tahoe we had it was only 4 or 5 bucks.

My dads 96 truck did the same thing. But he took it to a local shop to get it fixed so, I dont really know how to explain how to fix it.
