79 chevy

Would it be worth picking up a 79 chevy 3/4 ton with th400, 205 tcase, 8 lug front axle. The motor is not in too good of shape, buth the tranny and tcase were rebuilt 5000 miles ago, who knows about the front axle. I'm thinking of putting the tranny tcase and axle under my 91. The guy wants $1500 seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Re: 79 chevy

Its probably a 10 bolt of D44 front, so not worth all that much for the axle. And like you said, you'd have to swap the t-case to make the axle pumpkin on that side work.

Something tells me you should rebuild the engine and start a project with a truck that is already SFA.....
just something to think about over a few
