Jeep j-20 axles?

I want to do a solid axle swap on my truck. Will the front axle from an early 80s jeep j-20 work.

Umm, will be a bit narrow for a full size truck... And not to mention weak unless you plan on running 33's or something...

The rear is a full floater and the front is a dana 44 I believe.

Well if your wanting to go leaf spring you need to check the leaf spring pad width, chevy is 32" and what is the WMS to WMS measurement?

Re: Jeep j-20 axles?

I guess i better introduce Jessie(tonowanda), hes been my cousin now for I dont know how many years, hes been into all kinds of offroad sports. Mtn bikeing to motorcycles and trucks. blah blah.

his 91 is huge, its got 38x15? mt claws under 6"+3 lift and bushwacker cutouts. correct me if Im wrong jess.

and yeah that big block feels like its got more than 230horses..

Jess i think if you be patient Ill find you an axle. I wouldnt put a jeep axle under it 8 lug or not. your gona get a ford Hi pinion axle. or maybe chevy axle but i think you will run to big a tire to clear the 36.5" leaf springs running those freakn 12" wide wheels and all

Re: Jeep j-20 axles?

Hey Evan. I can run an 83 8 lug chevy axle if I get the transfer case out of the same truck right?

Re: Jeep j-20 axles?

I think what youd need is a 208 t-case

it should bolt to your 4l80 tranny.

but Im not positive.

Re: Jeep j-20 axles?

My friend Pat in North Idaho has an 83 suburban that the motor just craped out on him. I was thinking about seeing if he would start parting it out and giving me the axle and the 208 t-case. Are the spring pads on this axle 32"?
