Tranny Problems

My tranny just started acting up. Shifting from first to second it isnt smooth. It jerks into gear. Second to third is a little smoother and so on. I am not sure what to check. Any help would greatful.

Check the fluid. First, is there enough, and second, is it burnt? It should be red, not brown.
When was the last time the filter was changed? If you can't remember then now is the time.
If the fluid is good, and its not due a service you may have other problems best left to a tranny pro.

If the fluid looks good, I've had good luck with a transmision conditioner. they are sold at auto parts stores. I don't recommend it for long term but your tranny may just need to be cleaned out.

How old is the fluid in it now? If its old get your transmission flushed.
