getn down to the nitty gritty

finaly orderd the last of my axle parts, got my d side stubshaft comeing, spindles and warn hubs. think I got the premiums, maybe reg ones I dont know. already have all the bearings and shimms to set the ring and pinion. now Ill I need is to have the rotors turned and get new calipers.

looks like Im gona end up with right at 600 into rebuilding the axle, that brings the complete cost of the axle to 800. a dana 60 would have cost me 1200 plus the 800 to rebuild if not more.

Im also making my draglink, to start with. so all I need to roll are springs steering ends(tire rod ends) steering arm, pitman arm, and brake lines.

think I decided to do 3" block in the rear to kinda save a few bucks over the shackle flip for now. and go with stock blazer springs in the front, so i can keep the lift to 3"s or ass close to 3"s as I can, might turn out to be 4"s or so with the springs, I wont know till there on.

its probly anothere month out till it rolling

i say ge the brackets on the truck while you're waiting for stuff to come in. that'll break the monotony of collecting parts. it'll give you a little boost because you'll be getting something done.

Re: getn down to the nitty gritty

yeah i got 2 8" c clamps to clamp the rear brackets solidly to frame so i can spot weld them on or just go ahead and drill all the holes.

but the brackets realy arent a big deal, plus I got to looking and Im not positive I can mount the rear brackets and clear the t-bar . I was half way thinkn about swapn the front axle to 6 lug for now so i dont have to spend time and money right away rebuilding and regearing the rear axle. plus the price of wheels to. Id only do that if I could find junk yards parts to work on the ford axle to make it 6 lug. if not then swapping to 6 lug wouldnt be woirth my time. cause I wont spend any money to it.

Re: getn down to the nitty gritty

made the decision to swap to 6 lug on the front axle,

I think Ill be time and money saved by keeping my 14sf rear under thr truck for now.

that way I dont have to buy wheels, or stuff to swap the rear axle in.

plus I wasnt sure if I wanted to run 410s or 456 gears so i wont be out anything by putn 410 gears in the semi floating axle, because I may have to gear the full flotater and dana 44 to 456 at a later date dpending on what I decide.

Im going out to yard to find some 6 lug hubs and see I can get the ring and pinion all set up in the d44 ohhh and find a good carrier. then ounce the axle in all put together all I have left is to bolt it under the truck.
