Metric Lug Pattern?!?!?!

Ok, so its tire time, and being the cheap person that i am, i'm looking at getting another set of takeoffs. Even though the tires suck, the price is good, and i got a great deal the last time.

y quesiton is this: I was talking to a wheel guy and he said that the new Chevy 6 lug trucks are a Metric bolt circle, and not the old 6 on 5.5 or whatever it was through the 90's. Is this correct? If so, how much difference am i looking at - would the new pattern fit an old pattern or would it be a lot different? Thanks!

Re: Metric Lug Pattern?!?!?!

The newer metric pattern will fit on the older six lug patterns. My dads 1990 GMC has 2000 GMC take offs on it. Its not lifted so it looks decent. I think the only difference is the way they measure the pattern. The old pattern was measured as 6x5.5 with the 5.5 meaning inches. Now its 6x however many millimeters it measures out to be. But I'm just wondering why you would want to get take offs. In my opinion they don't look that great on older trucks. And the tires are too small. My dads are 245s. They look tiny on even his stock height truck. If I were you I'd just bite the bullet and buy brand new tires that look good. Just my two cents.

Re: Metric Lug Pattern?!?!?!

I've currently got 02 or 01 Avalanche Takeoffs, which are a 17x7.5" rim with 265/70r17's. The tire size measures out to be the same as my stock size (265/75r16), so it still looks fine. I got the set for $400, which is way less than a crappy set of 16" AT's would have cost me. The tires were Goodyear Wrangler At/s's, which are by no means a good all terrain, but they work fine for the road, which is 90% of my driving.

As for the pattern, I know the 01 or 02 wheels i have fit, but he said just recently they changed, like 03 or 04. Is this correct, or is it the same metric pattern that started in 99 with the new body style and 6 lug 4x2's?
