low beams not working

Hi everyone, I'm from the Jeep board, but have a Chevy question for you all. My low beams on my 95 Chevy 4x4 pickup stopped working last night. The high beams work fine, but when I switch them to low beams, neither headlight works. I doubt that both low beam bulbs blew out at the same time. Is there some kind of fuse or relay that I should check on? I'm hoping that it's not the switch on the steering column that controls the turn signals, high/low beam and cruise control, that thing is expensive! Also, I have a switch in the circuit to switch over to the plow lights, but the plow lights are not on the truck. I take them off for summer. Anybody have any ideas for me to start checking?

Do the day time running lights work? Those are the same bulbs as teh low beams. When this happened to our suburban, it was that control switch in teh steering column....

Re: low beams not working

I dont want to make you feel bad, but you are gonna have to change that stupid column multifunction switch. One of the bigger items I sell at work. I know its still expensive, but I can hook you up with that switch. AC-Delco part number D826A GM part number 26100985. I can hook you up for 134.36. Let me know if you need it. I can ship to you if needed. Later!

Re: low beams not working

Damn, thats a pretty good deal, go for that! I think we paid 300+ for the part on our burb (we had to get it done after we lost brake lights too and were towing a boat )

Just be careful replacing it because of teh airbag system.

Re: low beams not working

Thanks for the replies, although, that is not the answer that I wanted to hear. Years ago, I had that switch replaced for a problem with the turn signals. I know what they charge to replace it.
That is a screaming deal on the switch, but unfortunately, I'm not comfortable working around the airbag.

Thanks again.
