ok. i had 39 inch super swampers on my cj, 35 inch dunlop mudders on my truck. now i have a 72 blazer that is stock. i am going to put 2 inches on it (enough to clear 33x12.50s on 15x10 inch wheels). i have had the big time mud tires before, but since this is my dd, i am looking for something much milder (and cheaper than the ones i've had before). does anybody have any suggestions on a good, fairly cheap, middle of the road tire (33x12.50s)? i dont really think i want to go with the bfg all terains, but i'm not sure. anybody got any suggestions? thanks

Lots of ppl around here like the cooper tires in whatever pattern suits your needs.

I liked my Grabber APs which were better than BFG ATs in the woods, perfectly silent, and relatively cheap. But they don't hold a candle to mud tires.

i have cooper STTs in 35" and 33" and also a set of cooper S/Ts in 31" i love them. i think the S/Ts would suit you better as an every day tire and theyare quieter on the road. i like them a lot better than the BFG A/Ts i used to run with.

cheap ATs i'd go for: Sport Kings or Cooper Discoverers

cheap MTs: Mud Kings

If the Cooper Discoverer S/T is half as good a tire as the STT, I'd get those. STTs are great tires.

The BFG ATs I think would be your best bet. There is also the Pro Comp AT, or the Pro Comp Xterrain. I have heard that a lot of people really like both of those. Plus they are not that expensive.

i run 33s in BFG ATs, they're definitely not the best bet. yeah, they're quiet, and they're pricey ($141/tire), they dont have good traction in rain, they clog up easily in mud...there's definitely better performing tires that BFG ATs.

no experience with pro comp other than they're pretty overpriced too.

there's definitely better tires out there for less money than these two - you can't solely on brand name or it'll come back to bite you in the butt. the tires all the guys listed are tires that have been tried instead of/before/after having BFGs and they work.
