hey whats up board. im gettin rid of my toy and buying a real truck and i was thinking of a 94-98 full-size chevy 4x4 or Z71 not sure yet. while im looking what do i need to watch out for what are some problems i need to inspected while looking or any other information that is helpfull.

<font face="Comic Sans MS">Do yourself a favor if you're planning to lift and put bigger tires on it anyhow and don't bother with the Z71 package... If you put a lift on it then you just got rid of the Z71 crap, with the exception of 2 cheap decals on the sides... I prefer the 8 lug 3/4 tons due to the bigger front differential and all around increased beefiness of it... Including a 4L80E transmission instead of the 4L60E that seems to like to give up the ghost pretty frequently...

Look for the standard stuff, signs of repairs to the body i.e. has it been in a bad wreck before that could affect lots of other stuff, make sure the engine doesn't smoke, check for leaks everyplace (suspect anything that looks "too clean"...) And of course all sorts of other crap...</font>

I second the 3/4 ton suggestion. I wish mine had a 4l80e tranny in it......
