Re: Looky at what I just bought...

Dude that's sweet. What about the other engine and tranny combo from the van? What about a computer and all of the other stuff to run that? Sorry no help with the t cases. Is that black cover thing on the side for PTO, if so are you planning on using it?
Nice find.

Who is suncoast? Beefup parts?

Yes thats a PTO cover, one on each side I believe. The Allison has it's own stand alone computer in these trucks and it comes with that tranny. I have to order a harness from Allison that makes it work with my trucks computer so the VSS signal gets to the computer and such, as well as the TPS signal.

Re: Looky at what I just bought...

yup, beef up parts.

unlimited hp waranty.

guys are running them with a 215hp box and another box stacked and they hold the power fine.

this going in the wills or what?

I think 750 foot pound to the rear wheels is about the limit of the stock alli.

Re: Looky at what I just bought...

Umm, my truck is a work truck and tows every day. Either the dump trailer to and from the dump or tractors to and from job sites... Weds I took our dump trailer to the recylce place and it was 15,700 pounds... Thats alot of fawkin weight! I was waiting for my tranny to die...

The 4l80e is ok but the Allison has a lot lower 1st gear. It also has the tow/haul mode. But the coolest thing is that it down shifts when slowing down like you do with a stick so you stay off your brakes more.

The wills is getting a 4l80e with full manual reverse pattern valve body and the 6 speed kit.

damn, i knew you towed, but that sure is a lot of weight. Guess you've proven swampers are capable of just about any job you throw at them......

Re: Looky at what I just bought...

dhcomp

swampers are made of rubber, along with with other junk tossed in. not to metnion everyother tire on the market. his tires will work great towing. swampers arent the best, nor is 40" tire for towing. his rig isnt a tow rig like I thinik you have pictured in your head. probly 2-3 times a weeks he hauls the trailer 10 miles to local dump or the car. trailer. then maybe someday the light weight willis will be towed moab.

the 4l8e is a great tranny. maybe not the best but great. the alison is better, but I still wouldnt go with one. Id have to have nv4500 or similar.

I will say his trucks alot better tow rig than mine, despite the lift and tires.
