Engine RA RA RA

OK, 98 chev k1500 suburban. starts and all, but sometimes it has a real hard time starting, only started doing this recently. It might need a new battery, but I think I remember putting a new one in last year. If not, what else could be the problem, plugs & wires, right? thanks guys.

How many miles? Aren't Delco plugs good for 100k miles? Wires are close to that too aren't they? I'd put money on Peacocks suggestion though, when's the last time you put a fuel filter in it?

When it turns over does it sound like it's cranking hard, or just doesn't want to fire but is cranking fine?

it happens about one every 20 starts, just kinda acts up every now and then. It totally clicks over, but I'm thinking its the battery, because if a plug fires, then the rest fire at the same time without a problem, and all 8 cylinders are running fine once started. Lemme get a battery and I'll let ya'll know.

Re: Engine RA RA RA

Could be a loose connection. Your batt should last longer than a year. Sometimes the connections have a way of making contact good for many starts, then you hit some bump and lossen it, then it acts up durring the next start. I'd check that. Also, if you did replace the batt and it ends up being bad, I'd look at your alt. too, it may be getting bad.

A lot of hard starts are usually the result of dirty fuel filters or pumps that are going bad. If you know those are ok then the bat. is probably a good point to turn to.
