Does anyone know if 17" Avalanche (2001) will fit a 68 1/2 ton 2wd? Both are 6 lug and look to measure identical even though the Avalanche is metric and 68 is standard. If the wheels fit the bolt pattern how about tires to inner fender well and backspacing differences? Next how about studs and nuts? The 68 is a nice stock 2wd all original not lowered or raised.

for starters......pull off your wheel from the 68. then try to put on the avalanche wheel......if it fits it fits! no one here will have tried that before, but who knows.

also why the avalanche wheels?

The 68 is in Phoenix and the Avalanche is in Okla City (about 1000 miles) and they are free from a relative that bought new wheels. I thought someone might know before I attempt shipping or planning to haul them back the next time I were to visit.

Well, they'll probably fit for the most part.

The Avalanche wheels are probably "6x139.7" which is a fancy way of saying 6 on 5.5". They should be for 14mm studs and your 68 should have 7/16" studs. There's quite a difference in diameter (like 3mm) but as long as the Avalanche wheels have conical seats you should be alright.

The backspacing will be the killer though. It'll probably be around 5" of backspacing. I doubt your 68 will like anything more than 4".
