97 Strange Electrical problem

My Aunt has a 97 2WD and when you turn the key on the dash lights (check gauges, SES, and others) don't come on and it won't start it just turns over, but...... if you turn the key on and wait for the dash lights to come on (if they do) it will start and run fine i have checked fuses and cables and even reset the computer any ideas.

i know i am getting good power because it turns over good and i can find nobare wires i have "wiggled" the ignition and none of the seem to do any good

Re: 97 Strange Electrical problem

Sounds like one of those darn security things gone haywire. If it is, it'l likely be an aftermarket alarm or a factory "security package" if that's the case. Kindof weird though because those things usually don't allow it to turn over.

I guess it is also possible that the computer/accessory/lights/fuse panel/etc. wire may be broken or corroded allowing it to turn over, but not run - I doubt it though. <-- I don't even think itat's possible because the power for the starter solenoid "activation wire" gets it's power from here.
