Changed starter - wondering about wiring

Well, I just changed my starter... Again!! Damn Pep-Girls crap. I got one from the dealer this time(got a buddy who get's me good deals on parts) The thing that I'm wondering about is: There's some wires inside that plastic ribbed tubing(sorry, don't know what it's called) This is routed between the exhaust manifold and the starter and it seems awfully close to me. I guess if it was gonna get fried it would have gotten fried by now but it still kind of bugs me. Is this OK? I'm sure this is where it was originally routed because it can't go anywhere else.

Re: Changed starter - wondering about wiring

if its the wires im think of they bolt to the tranny bell housing and if you have ever had your tranny pulled alot of time they dont get bolted back up beacuse they can be PITA sometimes as long as its not to close it will not be a problem

And yes if you dont no it buy now i cant spell LOL!

Re: Changed starter - wondering about wiring

It's been most of a year since I had my starter saga, but my wiring wasn't loose. I'd bet dparker's right. There's gotta be something up there you can ziptie it to........not the exhaust though.

I used a NAPA premium starter, working great so far.

Re: Changed starter - wondering about wiring

Thanks for the ideas. I don't think the tranny has ever been pulled. The wiring is routed between the heat shield that covers the starter solenoid and the exhaust manifold. It's a real tight fit and it's locked down pretty good. I don't see how else it could be routed. It just seems too close to me.
