crate motors--good or bad?

I'm looking to buy an 86 blazer with a 350 ci crate motor. I have heard good things and bad things about them. What do ya'll think? Should I go with this, or get a blazer with a stock motor and rebuild it (maybe turn it into a 383 stroker)? Thanks.

Hailey

Re: crate motors--good or bad?

with a gm crate motor is there a difference like a vortec crate and a tbi crate motor. How much would a crate motor from gm cost and would a 350 vortec mount directly on where a 350 tbi was?
thanks
