Couldn't find this discussed anywhere on the IFS forum already:
Anyone ever have to test/replace the new digital odometer/engine hour meter display that came out with the '99's?
Mine's been acting up for probably a year. I've let it slide because it still seems to be recording the ever-valuable (and legal) information. It's just a display problem I think. At first, it just wouldn't come on when I started, but a quick jiggle of the trip meter reset button there would wake it up. Now, if the planets are in proper alignment, and I treat her real nice, she'll let me have a peek up her dress at her goodies.
At these very infrequent times I see it on, it looks like it's still keeping track of the miles just fine. Gotta be just the display, right? Anyone
Anyone ever poke around in there? I haven't torn my dash apart yet, but my book only goes so far as to explain how to disconnect the single huge connector that supplies signals to everything on the dash panel. Anyone know which pins on that connector provide my signal? Is the display a simple a plug-n-play replacement, or will soldering be involved? It's not integrated into the dash is it? Most important, gotta go to my favorite place, the dealership, and buy one. What's the cost of one??
