engine noises

I seem to have developed a ticking noise that is equal to emgine RPM. I noticed a slight leak at the exhaust manifold gaskets, so i replaced them but it didnt seem to do anything. I'm thinking maybe lifter or a rocker valve?? By the way its a pre-vortec 350 in a '93 1/2 ton suburban. ~~thanks

Re: engine noises

well if it isnt exhaust I'm guessing somewhere in the valves...ahev you ever just thought of how amazing those are. i mean look at how many times they go up and down. then like 9 years later...one ticks and we think its a big deal. if that was me...I"d have given up before ya hit 20miles.

Re: engine noises

Just a crazy thought, dont kill me or anything. You said its equal to rpm level. Could there possibly be a rock stuck in some of your tread. This has happened to me before and when it happens you get a loud noise. This prob. didnt help you.

Re: engine noises

I did think of that but i ruled that out because when i pin the gas, the engine revs up and the noise goes with that before the wheels pick up to that speed.
