Head Scatcher question

Heres one for the real smart fellas...lol . As anyone ever thought of using the 305 V-6 from the 60's in an s-10 they are supposed to be a real torque beast. I dont know if they relate to the small block at all but it sure sounded interesting...Yes they are heavier ,but (hey) someone has to come up with the dumb question.. Then there will at least be an answer on record...hahaha

Re: Head Scatcher question

Wasn't the 305 an INLINE six, not a V-6??? If that's the case it's probably too long to put in. I'm not saying it can't be done, but...

Re: Head Scatcher question

The 305 was a V-6. Sorry, i can't give any info on that engine... nor do i think you will find much. That engine is kind of a forgotten beast.

Re: Head Scatcher question

305 is a V8. I have never heard of a 305 V6. Why waste your time on a V6 in an S-10? Spend about $20-30 and get the "Chevrolet S-10 V-8 Conversion Manual". You can get it from JTR Publishing at www.jagsthatrun.com I mean if you want to put in a 305 V6, you might as well spend a little more time and money so you can be able to put in any Chevrolet Small block. You can put in anything from a 283, 327, 350,383, and 400. Personally, I would go with a 383 in an S-10. That'd be baad! It does take a lot longer to put in an 8, but would probably be more desirable.

J.R., Just so you know, nothing is too long if you really want it in. It would just take more fabrication.

Re: Head Scatcher question

the 305 V-6 was a big cube, high torque v-6 used in the 60's I remember my dad having one in a 64 Chevy pick-up. I think it was a 64 but I do remember them.
Just thought it would be a cool V-6 replacement.. have v-8 torque and power without the work and expence or a V-8. Parts might be a little hard to get..lol but this was just a thought

Re: Head Scatcher question

Hey there, I had a 1965 GMC with the 305 V6 in it. The truck was a beast. I rebuilt the motor. Ran the truck for 6 years and would just about out pull a 350 V8. The only problem with the truck was the gears, it was so low geared and so much torque top speed was only like 75mph with the motor wound tight. Loved the motor. I won about a dozen bets, when people would tell me that there was no such monkey as the 305 V6, then just show them the motor, pretty funny. Hadn't thought of it in a s10 but would be really cool.
