Steering column woes!

Well guys, my windshield wipers quit workin during Monsoon season here! LOL!
I narrowed the problem down to the swtich, so I went and bought one. Tore the cloumn down, replaced the switch, put it back together 4 times, thought I got it right. Put the key in, turned it, nothing! idoit lights come on, buzzer sounds, no cranking! Also the accesory position no longer exists. I believe the rack and the little gear for the ign. switch inside are a couple of teeth off.
Just wondered if anyone else experienced the same problem?
OH, BTW I can see why theives targeted GMs to steal, Super Easy to "hot wire"!

Re: Steering column woes!

I replaced the same switch in my 89. I didnt have any problems other then when I got it all back together I seen the rod for the dimmer switch in the floor. Since the key switch isnt engaging the starter and the acc. doesnt work then I would say you are correct in your diagnosis.

Re: Steering column woes!

Sure was, Cuttingedge! I tore it all down, and put it back together and Behold, everything works now! The arm on the wiper motor was installed 180 degrees off, thus making the wipers park on the windshield. Its nice to have 2 speed wipers again! Thanks.
