computer ?

I have a 1995 TBI 4.3. I have a obd 1 computer per my tune-up sticker under the hood and have the computer in the engine compartment (thin black box above coolant overflow). I have a 16 pin connector under the dash. What is there for my truck as far as reprograming. I dont believe that a chip can be changed. I want to pull some more power and get my spedo right as well as remove the limiter if poss. Am I SOL? Please help if you know. Thanks.

Re: computer ?

I just put a Hypertech ThemoMaster chip in my 93 4.3 TBI, the chip installed onto the factory chip under the passenger side dash. I also have that thin black box in the engine and was wondering what it was. I know the adapter under the steering wheel is to connect to the computer for service but I don't know about the other box. I hope I got the correct chip, it works with no problems but I didn't feel much of a difference. Any ideas?
