AC charging 98 S10

Hey guys,

A friend of mine at work has a 98 S10. The AC doesnt work, compressor wont kick on. I am assuming there is a leak. I was gonna get a few cans of 134a and charge it for her. Is this a fairly easy process? I've never had to do one of these before. Any thoughts of wisdom?

Thanks,

Paul

well if her compressor won;t kick on, then its not lack of refregrant, look for a loose connection or mabey she has a bad ac clutch, Recharging the system is fairley easy as long as you have some common sence.

Re: AC charging 98 S10

Admittantly i am not that familar with GM products, as you might have guessed i'm a Toyota man myself. However, on most AC systems i've seen, they have a low pressure switch. If the refrigerant charge isnt what it should be, then the switch opens shutting off the compressor to prevent damage. Doesnt GM use something like this?

Thanks,
Paul
