Antilock brake light warning came on

Yesterday, while I was driving home, my antilock and brake lights came on on the dash. I wasn't on the brakes and I feel no difference in how the truck stops. Nothing is leaking and the fluid is full. Also the brakes never did stutter when you press them hard like everyother ABS vehicle I ever drove does but it is pretty hard to lock up my tires. I went to Murrays and the guy behind the counter said it might be my ABS sensors on the hub. He said that I couldn't just buy the sensor, I had to buy the entire hub, I didn't buy it but is this true? I can't even go to the dealer and get it if the sensor is the problem?

Get in there with some brake cleaner and clean off the pickup sensor.. You might be able to get just the pickup im not sure but the sensor ring is part of the hub yes.. Also what year do you have.. They did have an ABS recall where they will upgrade the memmory for it.. They did it on my 94.. (Im really just trying out my new sig line..)

Well in my experence, You shouild just be able to buy the senser, but look at it and see if thats true, it will look like a gear that connects to nothing, it should have a sensor rather close to it, see if it screws out or what, BUT DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING, that is until you get a really precise (i'm talking using a scale with 64ths on it) measure on the distance, or your abs could go off at any time... That would suck.

Re: Antilock brake light warning came on

It's a 93, I just set up an appointmet to have that recall performed, hopefully that will fix it. I'll also take the tire off and clean everything with some brake cleaner. Maybe my last off roading trip, well not really a trip, just drivin around in circles in the mud, gummed it up or something?
