my new bumper!

here are some pics of my new bumper. i just got it done today. it is made out of 4x6x1/4" steel rectangular tubing. it is about 62 inches long. i made brackets to attach it with 2.5x2.5x3/8" angle iron welded onto 1/4" flat stock to line up with the stock holes in the frame. i put a 2" receiver in the middle with 2 5/8" D-rings I got from a trailer supply store. i capped the ends of the tubing with some galvinized sheet metal. painted it black with some rust resistant paint... i reinforced by frame by welding some 1/4" plate where the mounting holes are at on the inside of the frame. it actually looks nice, that surpised me. any questions, let me know.

Re: my new bumper!

it only weighs about 75 lbs. i can still pick it up and carry it... the added weight just helps produce more traction...at least that is what i say...

Re: my new bumper!

Hey, you should cap off the ends with 1/4" plates and make it a mobile air tank. I have also read that you can turn an old air conditioning pump into an air compressor. Just a thought.

Re: my new bumper!

i was thinking of that when i was capping off the ends with some sheet, but i thought that my welds would not be good enough... and i threaded 2 holes in my bumper to hold the lisence plate on. good idea tho...
