Throttle response

I recently added a post about erratic idle and engine revving. I had a reply about the gasket between the intake and throttle body being faulty. I replaced the gasket and it isn't any better. I failed to also let you know that when I hit the gas fairly hard I have hesitation before the engine revs.(It bogs down and then responds) I am upset by the fact that I have a '97 truck with only 42,000 miles on it and it is running so poorly. If anyone has any other input please respond. Thanks. (4.3L V6 w/ manual transmission)

Re: Throttle response

Replaced the fuel filter about 6,000 miles back. Anyway, I was looking through AutoZone(thought maybe it was the Throttle Position Sensor) and stumble across something. If you register your vehicle it enables you to look at recalls and TSBs. Well I found one that hit the nail on the head. Engine High Idle/Flare when Shifting Gears #86-65-04
Fix for the problem is to perform flash calibration.
Looks like I will be calling the dealership tomorrow to set up an appoitment.

Re: Throttle response

OK, with that low of mileage, what do your plugs look like? Do you have any weird smells or a lot of carbon built up in the tail pipe?

I have about 45k on my 1998 4x4 and it still runs OK. My problem is with gearing; the only thing holding me back!

Are you experiencing any pinging or knocking under acceleration? "Does your vacuum suck?"

These are the only things I can think of. If you run out of ideas it might be time to get it looked at from the dealer. They can figure stuff out a lot quicker, and there's never an obligation to get the service done!
