Engine idle fluctuating and inadvertant revving

O.K. here goes, I have a '97 ZR2 with the 4.3L V6 and a 5-speed manual transmission. Recently my truck started revving on its own. Occasionally, When I depress the clutch to shift instead of the rpm's dropping they seem to rev up a few 100 rpm. Also, when idling it doesn't always drop to 700 rpm's which would be the norm for my truck. It sits at around 850 rpm and then it may eventually drop if I sit for a little bit. For a little background my truck has about 40,000 miles on it, 33" BFG M/T's, K&N air filter, 3.73 rearend with limited slip. Unfortunately my warranty is up and I would like to get some input on this to see if maybe it is something I can fix myself. My first reaction is that for someone reason the computer is telling the engine it needs more fuel, but what could cause this(sensor, etc.) Any and all input would be appreciated.

Clayton

Re: Engine idle fluctuating and inadvertant revving

You have entered the realm of vacuum leaks. That is most likely.
