Remote oil filter leak?

I have an excessive oil leak on the driver side of the engine. It is not the valve covers gaskets or the Rear main oil seal. Any thoughts on this? Any Idea where this leak could be originating? I suspect it is the remote oil filter adapter and it only leaks when the engine is under a load. The truck wont leak (much) when it is idling, but when I drive it, it is defiantly leaking. HELP!

Re: Remote oil filter leak?

It is possible that it's the remote oil filter. The filter is held in at the block by a single bolt and two metal washers. It's possible it needs to be tightened (back to torque spec, whatver it is! NOT MUCH) or that the gaskets (washers) need to be replaced...

I had the same problem with my '98 oil filter, but that was after it was ripped to shreds on a damn rock!

Re: Remote oil filter leak?

The 2.8's don't use a remote oil filter from the factory, though. Only the 4.3s did. Just my $.02.
