OffRoading in Minnesota

Everywhere that my friends and I want to go off roading we get kicked off or talked to by the dnr. Where in MN is there some land to realy rip it up on? I tried to contact my local 4 wheeling groups but all they have are gravel roads.

As strange as it may seem, talk to the DNR about it. At least the Michigan DNR has a decent list of state certified/issued/approved trails on public land. Can't hurt, after all they should know of anywhere on public land you can go...

Re: OffRoading in Minnesota

Found out there is only one ORV public place to ride. Spider lake by brainard. Suck. I'll just have to keep asking people for permission to go in fields and gravel pits. Thanks anyway

Re: OffRoading in Minnesota

Berg,
Where are you located? I'm in Circle Pines. If you are looking for veryday muddin', I don't know of any place llike that around here. I have been to a place just North of the Anoka County fair grounds. I think it's owned by one of the Back Yard Boggers (I think that is the name), and one weekend they charge you 5 bucks (provided you pass Tech Inspection) and you can play in the mud all you want. The last time I was up there (three or four years ago) they had a big turn out. If they are still putting it on I would imagine that it is HUGE by now. Just make sure to stay clear of the big guys rigs who are strickly for mud. They will run you over and not even let off the gas!!!

Good luck

Re: OffRoading in Minnesota

I'm by Detroit Lakes in ottertail county. That sounds about what i'm looking for. As you can imagine I'm not getting very far asking farmers if i can tear up their fields. Do you know if it's open year round or just for a weekend? Oh i just realized that's in the cities. damn. That's even farther than spider lake. I just know i can get one of these darn farmers to give in.

Re: OffRoading in Minnesota

You might want to keep your eye open for a farmer who isn't using one of his fields for a crop and aprroch them about that first. I have also heard of farmers who will let some people get onto there feilds before they are getting ready to plant or after they harvest. If there is any way that you can wash off your vehicles before you leave they might be more agreeable to that, they might not want a couple hundred pounds of top soil leaving everytime you guys are done.

Again, good luck

Re: OffRoading in Minnesota

I live in Mankato, I have quite a few spots down here that I go to. I usually go to New Ulm, if you want to go some time I can show you where I go and you can always come down then when ever you wanted and go there. There are a lot of guys in New Ulm that mud and I could get you onto some of the land that they use. Just send me a message or something if you are interested.

This mud is for you!

I'll think about it, but still it's a drive. Maybe later this summer when things slow down and I finish my blazer. Can anyone see my picture?? I don't know what the deal is.

Your picture doesnt' work because of Geocities... You need to find somewhere else to host the picture. You could do what most of us do and go to the test forum and put the picture in a post there and then get a link to the picture and put it into your signature... Plus that way it'll stick around...
