tire and 2.8 question

Does anyone know what the max tire size is without a lift? Also I am in the process of changing my 2.8 motor out. I am replacing it with a 2.8 motor out of a 1987 camaro,my s-15 jimmy is 1984.Does anyone forsee any problems, and what do I do about them?

Re: tire and 2.8 question

I have a 89 S-10 and can run 30 X 9.50's with no problem but I think any larger than that you will need a lift.

Re: tire and 2.8 question

Maximum tire size I would go is 235/75/r15's with 3.73 gears. With 4.10 gears I would try for a bit bigger. At least with the 2.8L... Just doesn't have the low end grunt I'd prefer... (I have 235/75's and 3.73's)... Check the mounts on the camaro engine to make sure they're the same. Why don't you go for a newer camaro with the 3.4L? Much better choice. Same bellhousing bolt pattern, etc... Need to grab the flywheel from the camaro you pull a 3.4L from though... There are other posts on the topic... Search works good...

Re: tire and 2.8 question

I hope you got the computer out of the Camaro also as its 2.8L is Multi-Port where the S10s were TBI. Sounds like a pretty good swap, though.

Re: tire and 2.8 question

Thanks for the heads up.I took the fuel-injection system off ,and replaced it with my old carb system. Also another thing I had to change the timing-chain cover, with my old cover.
