steering column question

Just looking at my steering column in a 1988 Jimmy 4.3l, 4wd, i can't tell if it's a 2 piece column or not? Need to know before installation of my body lift. Anyone know for sure?

Re: steering column question

i think the part they are talking about is inside the engine compartment, follow the stearing shaft and see if there is a u-joint in it, if so, then it is a 2 peice shaft....at least that is what i think...

Re: steering column question

If your 88 is anything like my 89 i had you should have no prolems with a body lift on your truck But I do suggest followith the Instuctions on the kit and relocate the Stering colum where it goes thruogh the floor Downward's by at least 1-2" you will als need to Leathin the 4x4 shifter somehow I did mine with a Piece of Water pipe and A thin Steel rod and A couple of Adaters from the Plumming dept at the Local Hardware store Also you will need to open up the floor board to let the shifter to travel farther
