off-road shops confused me...
OK, so I went to 2 of my local off-road shops this weekend. They told me that my '97 Jimmy could not fit 31x10.5's with a 2" body lift, 1.5 inch torsion cranks, and 1.5" AAL. I might be wrong, but I thought that I could fit 31's with just the TB crank and AAL. They said that I need new wheels with 3" backspacing (because the backside of the wider tire would rub on a suspension arm, eventually blowing a tire), and to combine the 2" body lift with another 1" body lift to fit the tires, along with the TB crank. Can anyone shed some light on this? I need to get to the bottom of it. What is required to fit 31's without any rubbing? I am on a budget, so new wheels are out of the question. Thanks for the help, guys.
PS - What is the maximum length of wheel spacers that are safe to use? (They told me 5/8" was the max with the factory lug 'bolts')
