Grill Guard

This is really begining to tick me off. I have looked all over the internet and I have not found one decent grill guard for my old body style S10. I found this one from Westin, but it doesn't have the brush guards that go around the side of the vehicle. It shows a picture of one with the brush guards going around the side but then says they only have the straight ones for my S10. Does anyone know where I can get a decent looking grill guard that can take some abuse?
Thanks

<font face="Comic Sans MS">The absolute best and strongest would be one custom designed to your specifications... Might be a bit harder to make the curved parts for it to wrap around though... And if you did custom design it you could make it mount directly to the frame rather than the front bumper... Much better... Re: Grill Guard

My experiences have told me that Manik's one-piece frame mount is the strongest. I have talked to many off-road shops, and Manik's one-piece is much stronger than Westin (who doesn't make a one-piece). With Westin, you are paying for the name. My buddy had a Manik one-piece that wrapped around with the old body style S-10 and it looked awesome. Of course, he plowed a stopped Suburban from behind at 35mph (too much for the Manik)haha. I am planning a Manik one-piece for my 1997 Jimmy and having it re-enforced with steel. I know that Manik makes a one-piece for the new model, and I think that they still do for the old model. I would definatley go with Manik, though - most guard for your money. Check them out www.manik4x4.com Hope this helps. Good luck

Re: Grill Guard

I have looked at the Manik's before and they look alright, but just not what I am looking for. And yes they still do make the front guard for my body style.
metalheadfab--Can you give me a price range?
Here is what I would like if I was going with custom built:
-Grill guard with brush guard
--the two vertical posts should come up to the inside of the tow hooks
--if possible; a 1 inch strip along the front side of the vertical posts
--there should be one bar below the bumper between the vertical posts
--there should be 2 bars going between the two vertical posts across the grill-maybe 3?
--the brush guards should go out around the headlight and curve around the vehicle
How does this sound? Anything that should change or would be better? I am open to opinions.
As for buying one or getting one made I will just have to see the estimate and see how much money I have to spend on one.
Thanks.
