SFA Conversion

I found a 1977 jeep cj7 axle for a good price and was wondering if that is the same dana 30 front axle that I would need or could it be used without to much modification?

Thanks
John

Re: SFA Conversion

I thought the CJ's had a passanger side drop. Check out the jeep tech section on this site, lots of good info there.
An axle off a YJ would be your best bet if you feel the D30 is stong enough.

Do a search in this forum. D44 and D30 swaps have been discussed several times.

Re: SFA Conversion

ALL Jeep CJ's except 1980 CJ-7s have the passenger side diff. The YJ's and TJ's have the drivers' side diff. like an IFS GM. Don't know why only 1 year was like that, thats AMC for ya!
