front diff

Will a front diff from a 1984 4x4 fot in a 1995 4x4. I am going to swap the whole front diff rather that just the gears if possible. This will save about 165$ in labor.

Re: front diff

Sorry the truck is a 1986 not a 1984. Will it work?

Re: front diff

A 1986 front end came with 3:73 or 3:42 gears your 95 probably has 4:10 gears in it. If you are wanting to change you front diff I would save my money and get a SFA conversion

Re: front diff

Actually the 86 has 4:10's and my 1995 has 3.42's. I am looking to swap the whole diff because with new front ring and pinion and parts to install and labor will be about 715 vs 275 to just swap with the 86.

Re: front diff

Found out they are different. Are the ring and pinion different also? Anyone!

Re: front diff

What's different, the actautor? Or the ring & pinion size? I Thought that they were the same(electric actautor in newer models)until like 1999 when they switched to plug-in type pass. car CV shafts. With the exception of the ZR-2 and highriders having Fullsize IFS ring&pinion and wider track width.

Re: front diff

Not real sure on that. All I found out is they are different part numbers and the 1995 was about 120$ more. Dont know what that got you though. I am getting the ring a pinion from the 1986 so I will let you know if they were different when I get them swapped in. I just hope they work now! Well see.
