First off, what does a stock 89' s10 blazer have for axles?7.5" open 10 bolt? Can i fit 4:56 gears in there? How much does it cost for a Ford 9" or Dana 44+?

Re: axle upgrades

If I'm not mistaken it's a 7.5" rear and a 7.2" front.

Costs for axle upgrades -- sky's the limit. You can either find a 9" / 44 that's roughly the same size as yours or you can go cu$tom. Remember when you go custom you will need cu$tom repairs!

Check out http://www.currieenterprises.com for more information on axle upgrades.

Hope that helps...

Re: axle upgrades

From what I've gleaned from the BBS's around is that the Lockright is the one to go with for the 7.5" rear and is only about $300.

Re: axle upgrades

Really? I saw it in my four-wheeler magazine for $200. Ah well, do you have any pics of your truck?

Re: axle upgrades

I just did an SLP Zexel Torsen limited slip and upgraded to 28 spline axles(had 26). The axles were $210 from Toms Differentials and they have thicker flanges and thicker main body. The Limited slip works very well. It uses two gears on the axles and "twizler" gearson top of them. It is curently $99 at SLP. Normally $299.
