black factory fender flares

i have 30 X 9.50 Bridgestone Dueler M/T on my 89 blazer. It has the black fender flares from factory rather than chrome trim and the tires rub up front even w/ moderate t-bar tweak and the rear will rub sometimes also. if i took the flares off, could i put 31's? there would appear to be a good amount of space w/ot the flares. Can NE1 help me out???

Re: black factory fender flares

I do not think that 31's will fit without any lift. My brother's truck had the 3" Superlift, chrome trimming around wheel wells, stock wheels, and 31x10.50R15 mud tires. They would rub while wheeling. Your 30's should work with the black fender flares. You can crank up the front torsion bars some in the front (although you should get the front end aligned after this) to get some lift. Then try some air shocks, helper springs, or longer shackles in the rear. I'm assuming you still have stock offset wheels. I hope this helps.

Re: black factory fender flares

I put 30x9.50 BFG A'T's on my truck with the black flares and the rubbed BAD. Had to cut off the square corners on the bottom of them, front and rear. The torsion bar crank wil help, but I bet they will still rub. I've seen 31x10.50 tires on a stock s10 with no flares, but they rubbed too.

Re: black factory fender flares

i fit 32x10.5 swapper TSLs on stock rims with only a 3inch body lift. I still had the black flairs on the back that needed some trimming to work. the fronts don't not fit at all. My buddy on his 91 s-10 has the chrome flairs and he has 30x9.5 on stock rim with no lift. i think that you can fit 31's with bushwhacker cut outs. hope this helps.
